Green Drinks at the Old Joint Stock

Last night Green Drinks met at a central Birmingham location.

Nicola from 500 Year Vision, Simon from the Carbon Trust, Biodiesel Steve, Travel Plan Helen, Neil from Centro, Cycling officer Will, Carl (who’s in modelling) from the council & Mike from Digital Egg.
It was nice to catch up with a few people & share ideas & progress in a positive environment. We discussed setting up a biodiesel car pool - the car park by the Custard Factory was generally thought to be a good base for this as there are probably many people who need a car occasionally for meetings - who drive to work for this reason - based at the Custard Factory.

We agreed that it would be unlikely that anyone would be able to make the next event on the 2nd of January, so this will be held on the 16th January instead. We will look at the possibility of having an Orange Green Drinks in January - at the business meeting facilities provided by Orange in the city centre.

Publicising Green Drinks more generally was also discussed. Again - the Custard Factory was seen as a good starting place for this - apparently there is no email address which goes to everyone with premises at the Custard Factory - so this would involve mailing flyers.

A couple of people mentioned at different times, getting in contact with Rosemary (Cole?) from the Eastside.  If anyone has an email address for her, please get in contact.

The Birmingham Chapter of Green Drinks is now set up on greendrinks.org.  The Old Joint Stock was a pleasant pub, but rather noisy - and the tables weren’t clean & their accessible entrance was round the back.  So… we’re still on the scout for good, accessible locations in Birmingham City Centre who will sponsor Green Drinks by providing a free room.

Nic & Mike have decided to keep going with Green Drinks, even though numbers are currently small.  Once we find the right location & the ’self organising network’ organises itself a little more we are hoping that Green Drinks can do some good.
